Our Intercessions this morning are based on the Gospel reading from Luke
Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you.”
Lord God, we pray for those who are not at peace. For people and nations at war and for those who need reconciliation to one another. We pray for freedom from conflict, discord and dispute.
LORD IN YOUR MERCY…
Jesus said to them, “Why are you troubled”
Lord God, we pray for those who are troubled. For people with many doubts or uncertainties and those who desire confidence and trust. We pray for freedom from anxiety, rejection and fear.
LORD IN YOUR MERCY…
Jesus asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”
Lord God, we pray for those without food. For people who are hungry or starving and for those who desperately need aid. We pray for freedom from injustice, inequality and negligence.
LORD IN YOUR MERCY…
Jesus said to them, “This is what I told you”
Lord God, we pray for those who have never heard your message. For people with no idea of your love or compassion and for those who need your word. We pray for freedom from oppression, poverty and scarcity of resources.
LORD IN YOUR MERCY…
Jesus opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
Lord God, we pray that you would open our minds. That we may understand your scriptures in new and relevant ways, that you will guide and lead us through your word so we can become more compassionate to those around us.
LORD IN YOUR MERCY…
Jesus told them, “The Messiah will rise from the dead”
Lord God, we praise you for this truth and pray you will help us to live in the knowledge that you are alive and your spirit is at work within us.
MERCIFUL FATHER, ACCEPT THESE PRAYERS…
